Loading... Please wait...Catnip is well known for its behavioural effects in cats. Up to 2/3 of cats will be affected by the plant. Commonly cats will lick, bite or roll on the plant, bruising the leaves and releasing Nepetalactone. This can cause your cat sleepiness, purring, or jumping about. The effect wears off after a couple of hours.
The plant grows best in full sun although will grow in part shade. It grows 60cm high by 60cm wide. The leaves can be cut back and dried for later use, or sewed into 'catnip' bags for indoor cats. Very easy to grow.
