Daphne odorata
The smell of Daphne during winter and spring fills the corner of every part of the garden. Its a small unassuming plant for most of the year, then takes over as one of the most spectacular during the cold part of winter. Daphne doesn't like much attention. It is best in a shady spot (under a tree or against a house/fence) with little or no watering once established. Best not planted in wet spots, they are prone to root rot. Fully grown it reaches 80cm high by 1m wide. Tip prune after flower to keep the plant bushy.
